In the Middle Ages pilgrims to the shrine of St Thomas Becket at Canterbury Cathedral in Kent, England, bought pewter tokens as a sign of their pilgrimage. These were then thrown into the Thames from the centre of old London Bridge, where there was a chapel dedicated to St Thomas. Canterbury Cathedral Shop sells replicas of these and much more besides, including books, guide books and religious books. We carry the whole range of recordings made by our world-famous Choir. We have an impressive range (indeed prize winning) of products for you to buy which are often exclusively designed for us, as well as general ranges of giftware from companies that we admire such as Bridgewater, Dora Designs, Namaste and Bronnley to name a few. We support local businesses as much as possible and being in "the Garden of England" most of our food is from Kent and Sussex. However we do not ignore the many cathedral visitors who want to take away a well branded souvenir.
The professional retail team of fifteen to twenty five people who source the products, staff the shop and process your order on this site are dedicated to customer care, quality products and to the preservation of the Cathedral building and community. Our product buying policy is to source items that are ethically produced, locally if possible and at the right price for our broad range of customers.
Each sale supports Canterbury Cathedral.
